Hayden Panettiere’s co-star on Heroes, Jack Coleman, recently opened up to Entertainment Weekly about what makes Hayden a great actress.

Pointing to one scene from the episode “Company Man” as well as Hayden’s hard work and positive demeanor, here’s what Jack Coleman had to say…

Entertainment Weekly: You have great chemistry with Hayden Panettiere — was it easy for you to develop a rapport with her?

Jack Coleman: The scene that we did in the pilot where I come home and she comes running into my arms, we’d known each other for about 45 seconds when we shot that. I was the guest star. I come out of my trailer, we’re about to shoot, she comes out with “Daddy!” I thought, “Wow, this is a very open actor.” I was really kind of blown away.

Hayden Panettiere has chemistry with everybody. She’s invested in whoever she is looking at and acting with, and I think that’s something that’s really special about her. She’s very savvy about the camera, but she’s not giving it to the camera, she’s giving it to the actor. We had a scene right before “Company Man” where, in the hospital, she finally blows up and yells at me. We had to do a lot of coverage of her, and she’s crying throughout, for several hours, and it’s exhausting.

And we did all her coverage, and then the camera came around and shot me, and all the tears came, and she’s off-camera. Hayden Panettiere invests. It’s funny, all this talk in the media about her being another “teenage starlet” wondering if she’ll go the way of other young celebrities.

People need to pay attention to her work. Her work is really good. It’d be nice if people talked about that sometime instead of just everywhere she’s going, or who she’s dating, and whether or not she’s going to run off the rails.

And by the way? I don’t see that happening.

That dude West (on Heroes) kind of creeps us out, the way he stalks Claire. But it’s cool how he can fly like last night! We’re a little jealous. Flying like that would be hella sweet… as would cradling Hayden Panettiere in our arms. Anyway.

Hayden Panettiere is just getting over a breakup (from Laguna Beach boyfriend Stephen Colletti) and subject of dating rumors (with Milo Ventimiglia) but she doesn’t get any romance advice from co-star Masi Oka.

Rather, it goes the other way.

“[Stephen Colletti] was a good guy,” Oka told People Magazine at the Emmys over the weekend. “But I’m really in no place to give advice because I’m looking for love myself and I haven’t had much luck there. I’m single and available.”

You heard him, ladies! It turns out that Hayden Panettiere, despite her young age (she just turned 18), is the wise one when it comes to love advice.

“She’s the one that gives advice,” Masi Oka says of Hayden.

“I remember one day we went to this premiere, and I didn’t realize it was a press event. They were taking pictures and Hayden came up to me and said ‘Masi, you have a hickey! We have to cover you up!’ And I was like, ‘Whoa. I didn’t know that.’ Hayden takes care of all of us!”

Good to hear Hayden Panettiere is already like a mother hen… at 18.

Well, they stopped short of sucking face, but Heroes co-stars and topic of dating rumors Hayden Panettiere and Milo Ventimiglia sure were looking cozy last night right after the Emmy Awards.

TMZ caught the Heroes twosome walking arm-in-arm outside of HBO’s Emmy Awards after-party. When a cameraman approached the duo and asked if they were dating, Hayden got defensive, sassily stating, “I’m holding onto him because I’m about to fall over in these heels!” Well, that clears it up. Sort of.

The photographer smoothed things over with Hayden by telling her she looked gorgeous - and she did - prompting Hayden Panettiere to flash a smile before taking off with her man. Or co-star. Or friend and co-star. Who knows!
