Hayden Panettiere: Breakthrough Actor of the Year

Such a HeroSave the cheerleader.

Save the world.

Save her a seat at the Vail Film Festival!

Way-hot actress Hayden Panettiere, who plays the indestructible cheerleader Claire Bennet on “Heroes,” will be honored with the Breakthrough Actor of the Year Award at the festival, which runs March 29-April 1.

We’ll certainly save the cheerleader… some applause! Sorry. In addition to our girl, Sophia Bush, who starred in “The Hitcher” and CW’s “One Tree Hill,” gets the Rising Star Award, and legendary director/actor Harold Ramis gets the Gold Summit Award.

Sean Cross, who presents the festival with his brother Scott Cross, says the fest is developing nicely, now in its fourth year.

“It keeps getting better as there is more awareness about with the public and the industry,” Scott says.

He figures the clips reel at the Ramis salute will blow people away, with scenes from “Animal House,” “Stripes,” “Ghostbusters” and “Groundhog Day.”

All of the stars in town, including Hayden Panettiere, will be hanging around at parties, receptions and screenings.
